Christa Mae was given an old guitar, back in the formative years of junior high school, by her older brother, Dave. It was so big she had to lay it across her lap like a pedal steel in order to play it. In the years since Christa and her guitar have grown into each other.

Through an assortment of strange and sordid situations, an ever-increasing collection of songs was scrawled on any surface within arm’s reach. Songwriting became a tool that Christa used to make sense of the inevitable heartbreak and confusion of life. Although the songs were sometimes the only benefit from such occurrences, they were enough.

Nowadays Christa finds more inspiration in strength than weakness; enjoying the abounding depths of motherhood, learning to live in the moment, finding hope in faith, and the healing power of love.

Christa lives, works, and plays in Southern California, frequently appearing on stage in and around Long Beach. She is in the studio now recording the follow-up to her 2004 release, “Horizon Line.”
